It's header says it pretty clearly: Inside Cygnus Engineering (ICE) is published monthly for customers of Cygnus Support. Our objective is to provide a relevant but informal summary of news and ongoing activities. Please send all comments, suggestions, and subscription requests to engnews@cygnus.com. ICE lives in /s1/cygnus/engineering/newsletter. It started in January of 1992, and all back issues can be found in ascii form in the file `yymm' where `yy' is year and `mm' is month of publication. If you are new to Cygnus, it can be interesting reading. Some other files of interest are: * policy - more details on ICE publication policy * template - template for the issue * topics - current year topics * 92index - index of topics in 1992 How is it written? Topics are accumulated in the topics file on a regular basis. The goal is to get ICE published around the 18th of each month. Around the 12th each month, Sun Ming sends out a request for topics (and donations) for the issue of the month. Within about a week, Sun Ming writes the first draft and sends it out to mail alias eng-staff for review. There is usually a 2-3 day limit for suggestions. After the deadline 1-2 editorial passes are made with the help of the Doc folks. It is then sent out by email to those customers who have email addresses. Jeffrey makes a typeset hardcopy for customers without email, and also for insertion into the welcome package for new customers.
