illnesses we all fears such as multiple sclerosis (MS),
glaucoma and cancer?
The answer might seem obvious based simply on common
sense. Smoking causes lung cancer and other deadly
diseases. Americans take their medicines in pills,
solutions, sprays, shots_ drops_ creams and sometimes in
suppositories, but never by smokinq. No medicine prescribed
for us today is smoked_
With a little homework_ one can learn that marijuana
has been rejected as medicine by the American Medical
Association, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the
American Glaucoma Society, the American Academy of
Ophthalmology and the American Cancer Society. Not one
American health association accepts marijuana as medicine.
For the last half century_ drug evaluation experts at
the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have
been responsible for protecting Americans from unsafe and
ineffective new medicines. Relying on the same scientific
standards used to judge all other drugs, FDA experts
repeatedly have rejected marijuana for medical use.
Yet claims persist that marijuana has medical value.
Are these claims true? What are the facts?
Between 19B7 and 198B, DEA and NORML, under the
guidance of an administrative law judge, collected all
relevant information on this subject. Stacked together it
stands nearly five feet high, I_ _there reliable scientific
